Exploring a SharePoint Site

Navigating the Site

1To begin opening the SharePoint site, click Start, and then click Internet.
2To enter the site address, for the purposes of this exercise, click the Address bar, press SPACEBAR, wait as the address is typed for you, and then click Go.
3To view the document libraries and lists associated with the site, on the Customer Service Team Home page, on the top link bar, click the indicated Documents and Lists area.
4To view additional lists and the discussion boards available on the site, on the Customer Service Team Documents and Lists page, click once below the scroll box on the scroll bar.
5To view the types of content you can create on the site, click once above the scroll box on the scroll bar, and then on the top link bar, click Create.
6To view information about document libraries, on the Customer Service Team Create Page, in the left pane, on the Select a View menu, click Document Libraries.
7To view information about picture libraries, in the left pane, on the Select a View menu, click Picture Libraries.
8To view information about lists, in the left pane, on the Select a View menu, click Lists.
9To view information about custom lists, click once below the scroll box on the scroll bar.
10To view information about discussion boards, click once above the scroll box on the scroll bar, and then in the left pane, on the Select a View menu, click Discussion Boards.
11To view information about surveys, in the left pane, on the Select a View menu, click Surveys.
12To view information about Web pages, in the left pane, on the Select a View menu, click Web Pages.
13To view the site administration and customization options, on the top link bar, click Site Settings.
14To view the information management options, on the Customer Service Team Site Settings page, click once below the scroll box on the scroll bar.
15To view the subsites and workspaces linked to this site, under Administration, click Manage sites and workspaces.
16To return to the home page of this SharePoint team site, on the Customer Service Team Sites and Workspaces page, on the top link bar, click Home.
17To navigate directly from the home page to the page showing the available lists, on the Customer Service Team Home page, on the Quick Launch bar, click the indicated Lists area.

Exploring the Site's Contents

1To open an existing document library directly from the home page, on the Customer Service Team Home page, on the Quick Launch bar, click 2006 Marketing.
2To view the document library contents in the Explorer view, on the Customer Service Team 2006 Marketing page, in the left pane, on the Select a View menu, click Explorer View.
3To begin viewing a picture library, on the top link bar, click Documents and Lists.
4To view the list of the contents in a picture library from the Documents and Lists page, on the Customer Service Team Documents and Lists page, in the right pane, under Picture Libraries, click Stock Photos.
5To view a list of the picture library contents, on the Customer Service Team Stock Photos page, on the Select a View menu in the left pane, click Details.
6To view the pictures as thumbnails, on the Select a View menu, click Thumbnails.
7To view the pictures as a filmstrip, on the Select a View menu, click Filmstrip.
8To see which standard lists are displayed on the home page, on the top link bar, click Home.
9To open a list from the home page, on the Customer Service Team Home page, in the right pane, click Events.
10To open a meeting workspace from a list, on the Customer Service Team Events page, in the right pane, click the indicated Meeting Workspace icon.
11To return to the home page of the parent site from the meeting workspace, on the Sales team mtg page, on the top link bar, click Up to Customer Service Team.

Exploring the Site's Hierarchy

1To begin viewing a list of the subsites associated with this site, on the Customer Service Team Home page, on the top link bar, click Documents and Lists.
2To display a list of the subsites of this site, on the Customer Service Team Documents and Lists page, in the left pane, on the See Also menu, click Sites.
3To open a subsite, on the Customer Service Team Sites and Workspaces page, in the right pane, under Sites, click Western Regional Sales Team.
4To return from the subsite to the parent site, on the Western Regional Sales Team Home page, on the top link bar, click Up to Customer Service Team.
5To close the SharePoint site, on the Internet Explorer title bar, click the indicated Close button.
