Copying Project Information as a .Gif Image

1To begin customizing the Gantt Chart to show only summary tasks, click the Project menu, point to Filtered for: All Tasks, and then click Summary Tasks.
2To zoom out in the timescale, in order to view the entire project, click the View menu, and then click Zoom.
3In the Zoom dialog box, click Entire project, and then click OK.
4To begin to create a snapshot of the project information as a .gif image, on the Standard toolbar, click the Copy Picture button, as indicated.
5In the Copy Picture dialog box, under Render image, click To GIF image file.
6 To save the image to the default location with the timescale as shown on screen, in the Copy Picture dialog box, click OK.
7To view the saved image in your default Web browser, click the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Web.
8To continue, on the Web toolbar, click the Go arrow, and then from the Go list, click Open Hyperlink.
9To browse to the .gif image, in the Open Internet Address dialog box, click Browse.
10To display all .gif image files, in the Browse dialog box, click the Files of type arrow, and in the Files of type list, click and hold the Down scroll arrow until GIF Files displays, and then click GIF Files.
11To open the .gif image of your project, double-click Short Film Project, and in the Open Internet Address dialog box, click OK.
12 To close the Internet Explorer window showing the .gif image, on the Internet Explorer title bar, click the Close button.

Saving Project Information as a Web Page

1To begin saving project data as a Web page, click the File menu, and then click Save As Web Page.
2To save the Web page with the same name and in the same location as the original project file, in the Save As dialog box, click Save.
3On the Welcome page of the Export Wizard, click Next.
4To see a list of ready-made maps available for organizing the fields in the Web-based project plan, click Use existing map and then click Next.
5To use a standard template as a map for exporting your data, on the Map Selection page of the Export Wizard, under Choose a map for your data, click Export to HTML using standard template.
6To finish saving the project data as a Web page, click Finish.
7To view the saved Web page, on the Web toolbar, click the Go arrow and in the Go list, click Open Hyperlink.
8To browse for the saved Web page, in the Open Internet Address dialog box, click Browse.
9There are two Short Film Project files in the Projects folder: an .html file and a Project file. To open the .html file, double-click the Short Film Project file marked by an Internet Explorer icon.
10To open the Short Film Project Web page, in the Open Internet Address dialog box, click OK.
11To view more of the Web page, in the Internet Explorer window, click the Down scroll arrow two times.
12Notice that the page contains the task, resource, and assignment information from the project plan. To close the Web browser, on the Internet Explorer title bar, click the Close button.

Changing the Look of a Project Web Page

1To begin saving project information as a Web page, click the File menu, and then click Save As Web Page.
2To give this Web page a different name than a previously saved version, in the Save As dialog box, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR, wait as the file name is typed for you, and then press Save.
3To choose a map that will organize and format the information to be exported, on the Welcome page of the Export Wizard, click Next.
4To use one of the maps included with Project to organize the fields of the project plan, click Use existing map, and then click Next.
5To use a standard template as a map for exporting your data, on the Map Selection page of the Export Wizard, under Choose a map for your data, click Export to HTML using standard template, and then click Next.
6To export only the task and resource data to the Web page, on the Map Options page of the Export Wizard, click the Assignments check box to clear it.
7To select a different .html template than that shown in the Base export on HTML template box, click Browse.
8Notice that the Browse dialog box opens by default to the Microsoft Project Web folder, where the standard templates are located. To view the location of this folder, click the Look in arrow.
9To select from the list of built-in .html templates in Project, click the Look in arrow to close the folder list, and then click the Stripes Ivy template, and click OK.
10To include a .gif image of the Gantt Chart view of your project in the Web page, on the Map Options page of the Export Wizard, click the Include image file in HTML page check box.
11To create the new Web page, click Finish.
12To view the saved Web Page, on the Web toolbar, click the Go arrow, and in the Go list, click Open Hyperlink.
13To locate the Web page you just saved, in the Open Internet Address dialog box, click Browse.
14In the Browse dialog box, in the Projects folder, double-click Short Film Project with Gantt Chart.
15To open the new Web page, in the Open Internet Address dialog box, click OK.
16To view the Gantt Chart image, the Tasks table, and the Resources table, click and hold the Down scroll arrow until the Resources section displays.
17To close the Web browser and return to Project, on the Internet Explorer title bar, click the Close button, and then on the Windows task bar, click the Short Film Project button.
18To hide the Web toolbar, click the View menu, point to Toolbars and then click Web.
