Saving a Workbook for the Web

1To save a workbook for the Web, click the File menu, click Save as Web Page, and then, in the Save As dialog box, click Save.
2To begin viewing the saved Excel workbook in a browser window, on the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click the Internet icon.
3To begin opening a file, in the browser window, click the File menu, click Open, and then, in the Open dialog box, click Browse.
4To browse to the file, in the Microsoft Internet Explorer dialog box, double-click the Garden Company folder, and then double-click the Reports folder.
5To finish opening a file, double-click DailySales, and then, in the Open dialog box, click OK.
6To open a different worksheet, in the browser window, on the tab bar, click the January tab.

Comparing Workbooks

1To begin opening two workbooks and compare them, click the File menu, and click Open.
2To select the desired workbooks to be opened, in the Open dialog box, click OwnerReports, hold down the CTRL key, click BuyerReports, and release the CTRL key.
3To finish opening the selected workbooks, click Open.
4To compare the two workbooks side by side, click the Window menu, and click Compare Side by Side with BuyerReports.
5To close both the workbooks, hold down the SHIFT key, click the File menu, click Close All, and release the SHIFT key.
6To open the master workbook, on the Standard toolbar, click the Open button, and then double-click YearlySales.
7To begin merging workbooks, click the Tools menu, and then click Compare and Merge Workbooks.
8To select two workbooks to be merged with the master workbook, in the Select Files to Merge Into Current Workbook dialog box, click BuyerReports, hold down the CTRL key, click OwnerReports, and release the CTRL key.
9To merge the selected workbooks into the YearlySales workbook, click OK.
10To begin tracking the changes that may appear in the workbook, click the Tools menu, point to Track Changes, and then click Accept or Reject Changes.
11To accept the default settings, in the Select Changes to Accept or Reject dialog box, click OK.
12To accept the first change as a result of the merge, in the Accept or Reject Changes dialog box, click $265,000.00 (Catherine Turner 11/26/2003 9:21), and then click Accept.
13To accept the next change as displayed in the Accept or Reject Changes dialog box, click Accept.
14To begin highlighting the changes, click the Tools menu, point to Track Changes, and then click Highlight Changes.
15To highlight all the changes that have taken place, in the Highlight Changes dialog box, click the arrow next to the When box, click All, and then click OK.

Using Smart Tags to Acquire Real-Time Data

1To begin displaying the Smart Tags tab page in the AutoCorrect dialog box, click the Tools menu, and then click AutoCorrect Options.
2To locate the cells containing Smart Tags in the worksheet, in the AutoCorrect: English (U.S.) dialog box, click the Smart Tags tab, and then click the Label data with smart tags check box.
3To display the Smart Tags in the worksheet, in the AutoCorrect dialog box, click the Embed smart tags in this workbook checkbox.
4To begin checking the Smart Tags throughout the workbook, in the AutoCorrect dialog box, click Check Workbook.
5To check the Smart Tags throughout the workbook, in the Microsoft Office Excel dialog box, click OK.
6To begin inserting the refreshable stock price, position the pointer over cell B3, and then click Smart Tag Actions button.
7To insert the refreshable stock price, in the Financial Symbol: MSFT list, click Insert refreshable stock price.
8To place the stock price list on this worksheet, in the Insert Stock Price dialog box, click the Starting at cell option, and then click OK.
