Working with Graphics

Inserting Clip Art and Pictures

1To insert a clip art image on this slide, click a blank area inside the content placeholder to select it, click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Clip Art.
2To use the Clip Art task pane to search for an appropriate image, click the Search for box, and then, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the word "leaves" typed for you.
3To start the search, click Go.
4To insert an image into the content placeholder, click the image of the two leaves, and then click the blank area to the right of the image to clear its resizing handles and close the Picture toolbar.
5To close the Clip Art task pane, click its Close button.
6To insert a clip art image on Slide 3, on the Slides tab, click Slide 3, and then in the content placeholder, click the Insert Clip Art button, as indicated.
7To insert an image, in the Select Picture dialog box, click below the scroll box in the scroll bar three times, click the indicated cornucopia image, and then click OK.
8To start inserting a picture on Slide 4, on the Slides tab, click Slide 4, and in the upper-left content placeholder, click the Insert Picture button, as indicated.
9To navigate to the pictures you want to insert, in the Insert Picture dialog box, click the Up One Level button, double-click Garden Company, and then double-click Artwork.
10To finish inserting the picture, in the Insert Picture dialog box, click Picture01, and then click Insert.
11To start inserting another picture, click a blank area of the upper-right content placeholder, click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
12Notice that the Insert Picture dialog box opens to the location you specified for the previous picture. To insert another picture, in the Insert Picture dialog box, click Picture02, and click Insert.
13To insert a picture into the lower-left placeholder, click the Insert Picture button, and double-click Picture03.
14To insert a picture into the lower-right placeholder, click the Insert Picture button, and double-click Picture04.
15To start creating a photo album, click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click New Photo Album.
16To specify that you want to add pictures stored on your hard disk, in the Photo Album dialog box, click File/Disk.
17To select the pictures, in the Insert New Pictures dialog box, click Picture05, click once below the scroll box on the scroll bar, hold down the SHIFT key, and click Picture12.
18To continue inserting the pictures in the new photo album, click Insert.
19To specify layout options, in the Album Layout area of the Photo Album dialog box, click the Picture layout arrow, click the scroll down arrow, and then click 4 pictures with title.
20To specify the frame shape, click the Frame shape arrow, and click Oval.
21To specify the order of the pictures, in the Pictures in album box, click Picture12, and click the indicated Move Down button seven times to move the selected picture to the bottom of the list.
22To finish creating the new photo album, click Create.
23To save the new photo album, click the File menu, click Save As, and then click Save.

Modifying Clip Art and Pictures

1To reposition the clip art image, point to it, and drag it to the lower-right corner of the slide.
2To start changing the size of the clip art image on Slide 3, on the Slides tab, click Slide 3, and then double-click the clip art image.
3To view the Format Picture dialog box and the image at the same time, drag the dialog box by its title bar to the left side of the screen, and then click the Size tab.
4To enter the height, in the Scale area, double-click 100 in the Height box, and for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have a new value typed for you.
5To view the image without closing the dialog box, click Preview.
6To fine-tune the position of the image, click the Position tab in the Format Picture dialog box, click the Horizontal down arrow three times until the setting is 6.02", and then click Preview.
7To accept the new size and position settings, click OK.
8To view the color options for this clip art image, on the Picture toolbar, click the Recolor Picture button, as indicated.
9To display the fill colors of the image, in the Recolor Picture dialog box, click the Fills option.
10To change the orange fill color, in the New area, click the down arrow to the right of the top box, and click the indicated box in the color scheme.
11To change the white fill color, in the New area, click the down arrow to the right of the bottom box, and click the indicated box in the color scheme.
12To apply the selected colors, click OK.
13To work with the pictures on Slide 5, on the Slides tab, click Slide 5.
14To start cropping away parts of the top picture, click the picture, and drag the lower-right corner handle down until the picture covers about a third of the picture below it.
15To use the cropping tool, on the Picture toolbar, click the Crop button, as indicated, and drag the lower-middle handle up to crop the bottom of the picture to align with the word expensive.
16To turn off the cropping tool, click the blank area of the slide to the right of the picture you just cropped.
17To size the bottom picture for cropping, first double-click the picture, and in the Format Picture dialog box, click the Size tab.
18In the Scale area, double-click 14 in the Height box, press SPACEBAR to have a new Height value of 20 typed for you, and then click Preview.
19To crop the enlarged picture, first click the Picture tab.
20 In the Crop from area, double-click the zero in the Top box, and press SPACEBAR to have the new value 3.75 typed for you.
21Press the TAB key twice to move to the Bottom box in the Crop from area, and then press SPACEBAR to have the new value 4.5 typed for you.
22To accept the settings in the Format Picture dialog box, click OK.
23To associate the bottom picture with the bullet point to its left, drag the picture upward, aligning its top edge with the first line of the second bullet point.
24To display both pictures in shades of gray, hold down the SHIFT key and click the top picture, and then on the Picture toolbar, click the Color button, as indicated, and click Grayscale.
25To make the pictures brighter, on the Picture toolbar, click the indicated More Brightness button twice.
26To decrease the contrast, on the Picture toolbar, click the indicated Less Contrast button twice.
27To display the pictures in color but with the same brightness and contrast settings, on the Picture toolbar, click the Color button, and then click Automatic.
28To check the compression settings for these pictures, on the Picture toolbar, click the Compress Pictures button, as indicated, and then in the Compress Pictures dialog box, click the Web/Screen option, and click OK.
29To apply picture optimization to avoid reduced image quality, in the Compress Pictures message box, click Apply.

Inserting and Modifying Stylized Text

1To delete the existing title and its placeholder, click the text Photo Album, click the outside slanted-line selection box, and press the DELETE key twice.
2To start inserting a WordArt title, on the Drawing toolbar, click the Insert WordArt button, as indicated.
3To select a WordArt style for the title, in the WordArt Gallery dialog box, click the indicated style, and then click OK.
4To include your text for the title, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the text typed for you.
5To change the font size, in the Edit WordArt Text dialog box, click the Size arrow, click once below the scroll box on the scroll bar, click 60, and then click OK.
6To change the WordArt shape, on the WordArt toolbar, click the WordArt Shape button, as indicated, and then click the indicated Triangle Up shape.
7To stretch the characters across the slide, on the WordArt toolbar, click the WordArt Character Spacing button, as indicated, and then click Very Loose on the menu.
8To start adjusting the object's position and height, on the WordArt toolbar, click the Format WordArt button, as indicated.
9To move the AutoText object upward, on the Position tab of the Format WordArt dialog box, triple-click 3.17" in the Vertical box, and press SPACEBAR to have the new value "1.57" typed for you.
10To adjust the object's height and shape, first click the Size tab.
11In the Size and rotate area, triple-click 1.18" in the Height box, press SPACEBAR to have the new value "2.08" typed for you, and then click OK.
12To change the object's shadow style, on the Drawing toolbar, click the Shadow Style button, as indicated, and then click the indicated style in the palette.
13To adjust the shadow style, on the Drawing toolbar, click the Shadow Style button again, and then click Shadow Settings.
14To specify shadow settings, on the Shadow Settings toolbar, click the indicated Nudge Shadow Left button five times, and then click the Shadow Settings toolbar's Close button.
15To see the results of your work, click the blank area to the right of the WordArt object on the slide.
