Creating Multimedia Presentations

Animating Slides

1To view animation schemes, click the Slide Show menu, and then click Animation Schemes.
2To select an animation scheme to apply to the selected slide, in the Apply to selected slides area of the Slide Design task pane, click Fade in all.
3To select multiple slides to which you want to apply an animation effect, click Slide 2, hold down the CTRL key, and then click Slides 5 and 6.
4To apply a different animation to the selected slides, in the Apply to selected slides area of the Slide Design task pane, click Faded wipe.
5To switch to Normal view with Slide 1 displayed, double-click Slide 1.
6To view custom animations, click the Slide Show menu, and click Custom Animation.
7To apply a custom animation to the current slide, click to the left of Training in the title, and in the Custom Animation task pane, click Add Effect, point to Entrance, and click 5. Fly In.
8To apply another custom animation to the current slide, click to the left of The in the subtitle, and in the Custom Animation task pane, click Add Effect, point to Emphasis, and click 5. Spin.
9To start the slide show, at the bottom of the Custom Animation task pane, click the Slide Show button, and then do not move the mouse.
10To display the animation effects applied to the current slide, click without moving the mouse to display the title, and then click a second time to spin the company name.
11To end the slide show, press the ESC key.
12To view the animation effect settings, in the Custom Animation task pane, click the first item in the Animation Order list, click the down arrow that appears, and click Effect Options.
13To change the settings, in the Settings area of the Fly In dialog box, click the Direction arrow, and click From Top, and then click both the Smooth start and Smooth end check boxes to insert check marks in them.
14To enhance the animation, in the Enhancements area of the Fly In dialog box, click the Animate text arrow, click By letter, and then click the % delay between letters down arrow five times, and click OK.
15To further modify the effect, in the Modify: Fly In area of the Custom Animation task pane, click the Start arrow, and click With Previous.
16To apply an animation to the text on another slide, on the Slides tab, click Slide 2, and in the Custom Animation task pane, click the second item in the Animation Order list, click the down arrow that appears, and click Effect Options.
17To apply the effect to each bullet point and its subpoints, click the Text Animation tab, click the Group text arrow, click By 1st level paragraphs, and then click OK.
18To start applying an animation to graphic objects on another slide, on the Slides tab, click Slide 3, and drag a selection box from the indicated area down and to the right to select all three shapes.
19To apply the animation effect to the selected objects, in the Custom Animation task pane, click Add Effect, point to Entrance, and click 4. Diamond.
20To change the order of the animation of the first shape and its connector line, in the Animation Order list in the Custom Animation task pane, click the first Elbow connector, and click the indicated Re-Order up arrow two times.
21To sequence the animation of the shape and its line correctly, click the Start arrow in the Modify: Diamond area, and click After Previous.
22To finish reordering the animation sequence, in the Animation Order list, click the second Elbow connector, click the Re-Order up arrow once, click the Start arrow, and click After Previous.
23To view the slide show, at the bottom of the Custom Animation task pane, click the Slide Show button to display the shapes and their connectors in sequence.
24To end the slide show, press ESC.

Adding Transition Effects

1To start applying a transition effect to a single slide, click the Slide Show menu, and then click SlideTransition.
2To finish applying the transition, in the Apply to selected slides area of the Slide Transition pane, click three times below the scroll box in the scroll bar, and then click Dissolve.
3To view the slide transition and animation effects that are applied to a slide while in Slide Sorter view, click the animation symbol below the lower-left corner of Slide 1.
4To view the slide transition and animation effects in Slide Show view, at the bottom of the Slide Transition task pane, click Slide Show, and then do not move the mouse.
5To display the next animation, click the mouse button, and then press ESC to end the slide show.
6To select all of the slides in the presentation, click the Edit menu, and then click Select All.
7To deselect one slide, hold down the CTRL key, and then click Slide 1.
8To apply a transition to the selected slides, in the Apply to selected slides area of the Slide Transition task pane, click four times below the scroll box on the scroll bar, and then click Random Bars Horizontal.
9To modify the effect, in the Modify transition area, click the Speed arrow, and then click Medium.
10To start the slide show, at the bottom of the Slide Transition task pane, click Slide Show.
11To advance through the slides, click the mouse button after each transition and animation effect executes, and then press ESC to end the slide show.

Inserting and Playing Sounds and Movies

1To add sound to the selected slide's transition, in the Modify transition area of the Slide Transition task pane, click the Sound arrow, click below the scroll box in the scroll bar, and click Chime.
2To show the slide and play the sound, at the bottom of the Slide Transition task pane, click Slide Show.
3To stop the slide show and return to Normal view, press the ESC key.
4To display the sounds that are available in the Clip Organizer, on the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and click Sound from Clip Organizer.
5To add a sound to a slide, on the Slides tab, click Slide 2, and then in the Clip Art task pane, click Claps Cheers, as indicated.
6To specify that you want the sound to play automatically, in the message box, click Automatically.
7To move the sound icon away from the middle of the slide, drag it to the lower-right corner of the slide, as indicated, and then click the Close button on the Clip Art task pane title bar.
8To start adding one of PowerPoint's movie clips to a slide, on the Slides tab, click Slide 5, and then in the content placeholder, click the Insert Media Clip button, as indicated.
9To insert the movie clip, click the communication, computers movie clip, as indicated, and click OK.
10To adjust the size and position of the movie clip, drag its upper-right handle, as indicated, up and to the right.
11To start the slide show and play the movie clip, in the lower-left corner of the window, click the Slide Show button, and then press ESC to stop the slide show and return to Normal view.
12To start adding a custom movie to a slide, on the Slides tab, click Slide 6, click the Insert menu, point to Movies and Sounds, and then click Movie from File.
13To insert the file, double-click the Garden Company folder, double-click the Training Classes folder, and then double-click the Planting Seeds file.
14To select how the movie should start, in the message box, click When Clicked.
15To start the slide show and play the movie, in the lower-left corner of the window, click the Slide Show button, and then click the movie object.
16To end the slide show, when the movie finishes, press ESC.
