Setting Up and Delivering Slide Shows
Taking a Slide Show on the Road
| 1 | To start creating a presentation package that you can copy to a compact disc, click the File menu, and then click Package for CD. |
| 2 | To enter a name for the CD, in the Name the CD text box, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the name typed for you. |
| 3 | To specify that the fonts used in the presentation should be included in the package, click Options, click the Embedded TrueType fonts check box to insert a check mark, and then click OK. |
| 4 | To specify that you want to store the presentation package in a folder on your hard disk, click Copy to Folder. |
| 5 | To navigate to the folder where you will copy the files, click Browse, double-click Garden Company, double-click Workshops, click Select, and then click OK. |
| 6 | To close the Package for CD dialog box, click Close, and then click the Close button at the right end of the title bar to close the presentation and quit PowerPoint. |
| 7 | To test the presentation package, on the Windows taskbar, click the Start button, and then click My Documents. |
| 8 | To navigate to your presentation, double-click the Garden Company folder, double-click the Workshops folder, and then double-click the Teachers Show folder. |
| 9 | To view the Teachers Show presentation by using PowerPoint Viewer, click Herb Gardens, and for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to right-click the file. |
| 10 | On the shortcut menu, point to Open With, and click Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer. |
| 11 | To advance to the next slide, click the mouse button. |
| 12 | To end the presentation, press the ESC key. |
Delivering a Slide Show
| 1 | To begin the slide show, click the Slide Show button. |
| 2 | To advance to the next slide, click the mouse button without moving the mouse. |
| 3 | To display the previous slide, press the LEFT ARROW key, and then press the RIGHT ARROW key twice to display Slide 3. |
| 4 | To display the popup toolbar, move the mouse. |
| 5 | To display the next bullet point, on the popup toolbar, click the Next button, as indicated. |
| 6 | To hide the bullet point, on the popup toolbar, click the Previous button, as indicated. |
| 7 | To jump to a different slide, on the popup toolbar, click the Navigation button, as indicated, point to Go to Slide, and click 6 Using Available Resources. |
| 8 | To display the slide's bullet points and then move to the next slide, move the mouse to display the popup toolbar, and then click the Next button on the popup toolbar five times. |
| 9 | To select a tool to draw on the slide, move the mouse to display the popup toolbar, click the Pointer Options button, as indicated, and then click Felt Tip Pen. |
| 10 | To emphasize a word in the slide title by drawing a line under it, drag from left to right under the word Key in the title. |
| 11 | To erase the line, click the Pointer Options button, and then click Erase All Ink on Slide. |
| 12 | To jump to another slide, on the popup toolbar, click the Navigation button, point to Go to Slide, and then click 8 Sample Project Budget. |
| 13 | To change the ink color, on the popup toolbar, click the Pointer Options button, point to Ink Color, and then click the indicated color box. |
| 14 | To see the new ink color, draw circles around Fall/Winter and 500 and in the right column of the table. |
| 15 | To change the pen tool back to a pointer, on the popup toolbar, click the Pointer Options button, and then click Arrow. |
| 16 | To return to Normal view, on the popup toolbar, click the Navigation button, and click End Show. |
| 17 | To discard the annotations that you have made, in the message box, click Discard. |
Customizing a Slide Show
| 1 | To begin defining the custom show, click the Slide Show menu, and click Custom Shows, and then in the Custom Shows dialog box, click New. |
| 2 | To enter a name for the custom show, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the name typed for you |
| 3 | To designate a slide to be included in the custom show, in the Slides in presentation box, click slide 9, and then click Add. |
| 4 | To continue designating slides, in the Slides in presentation list, double-click the following slides in turn: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, and 8. |
| 5 | Click below the scroll box on the scroll bar, double-click slides 12, 14, and 15, and then click OK. |
| 6 | To start the custom slide show, in the Custom Shows dialog box, click Show. |
| 7 | To view the custom show, click through all the slides, including the black screen at the end of the show. |
| 8 | To make changes to the custom show, in Normal view, click the Slide Show menu, click Custom Shows, and then with Contractors selected in the Custom Shows dialog box, click Edit. |
| 9 | To remove a slide from the custom show, in the Slides in custom show box, click slide 8, and click Remove. |
| 10 | To change the order of the list in the Slides in custom show box, click slide 2, and clicking the up arrow to the right of the box. |
| 11 | To close the Define Custom Show dialog box, click OK, and to close the Custom Shows dialog box, click Close. |
| 12 | To hide a slide, on the Slides tab, click twice below the scroll box on the scroll bar, click Slide 13, click the Slide Show menu, and then click Hide Slide. |
| 13 | To start the slide show, click Slide 12, click the Slide Show button in the lower-left corner of the window, and then click the mouse button to move to Slide 14, the next visible slide. |
| 14 | To display the previous visible slide, Slide 12, press the LEFT ARROW key, and then return to Normal view by pressing ESC. |
| 15 | To start creating an action button that will allow you to jump to the hidden slide, click the Slide Show menu, point to Action Buttons, and then click the Action Button: Return button, as indicated. |
| 16 | To insert the action button, move the pointer to the lower-left corner of the slide, and drag where indicated. |
| 17 | To specify what the action button will do, in the Action Settings dialog box, in the Action on click area, click the Hyperlink to arrow, and click Slide in the drop-down list. |
| 18 | To specify the hyperlink target, in the Hyperlink to Slide dialog box, in the Slide Title area, click below the scroll box on the scroll bar, click (13) Sales Projection, and then click OK. |
| 19 | To close the Action Settings dialog box, click OK. |
| 20 | To test the action button, in the lower-left corner of the window, click the Slide Show button, and then click the slide's action button. |
| 21 | To end the slide show, press ESC. |
Adding Slide Timings
| 1 | To begin adding a slide timing to a slide, click Slide 3, and on the Slide Sorter toolbar, click the Slide Transition button, as indicated. |
| 2 | To specify the transition options, in the Advance slide area of the Slide Transition task pane, click the Automatically after check box to insert a check mark, and then click the up arrow twice to show 00:02. |
| 3 | To see the effect of this timing, at the bottom of the Slide Transition task pane, click Slide Show. |
| 4 | To end the show after the presentation moves to Slide 4, press ESC, and then in Slide Sorter view, click Slide 3. |
| 5 | To apply the current settings in the Slide Transition task pane to all the slides, at the bottom of the pane, click Apply to All Slides. |
| 6 | To test the slide show with these settings, click Slide 1, and then click Slide Show. |
| 7 | Watch as the slides advance, and without moving the mouse, click the mouse button when the black screen at the end of the show is displayed. |
| 8 | To remove the slide timings, in the Advance slide area of the Slide Transition task pane, click the Automatically after check box to clear the check mark, and click Apply to All Slides. |
| 9 | To rehearse the presentation, on the Slide Sorter toolbar, click the Rehearse Timings button, as indicated. |
| 10 | To advance the slide show, wait until the timer on the Rehearsal toolbar reaches 10 seconds, and on the Rehearsal toolbar, click the Next button, as indicated. |
| 11 | To create a timing of each slide, wait until the timer reaches 10 seconds, click the Next button, wait 10 seconds, click the Next button, wait 10 seconds, and click the Next button again. |
| 12 | To repeat the rehearsal for the current slide, wait about 5 seconds, and then on the Rehearsal toolbar, click the Repeat button, as indicated, to reset the time for that slide to 0.00.00. |
| 13 | To stop the rehearsal, click the Rehearsal toolbar's Close button. |
| 14 | To apply the recorded slide timings, in the message box, click Yes. |
| 15 | To start the slide show, at the bottom of the Slide Transition task pane, click the Slide Show button, and then press ESC when you reach the end of the show. |
