Working with Graphics and Charts

Inserting and Modifying Pictures

1To start inserting a logo at the top of the document, click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
2To locate the picture you want to insert, on the Places bar of the Insert Picture dialog box, click My Documents, double-click Garden Company, click once below the scroll box on the scroll bar, and then double-click Flyers.
3To insert the logo, double-click Logo.
4To make the logo smaller, click to select it, and drag the lower-right handle up and left until the frame is aligned with the 3 1/2-inch mark on the horizontal ruler and the 1 1/4-inch mark on the vertical ruler, as indicated.
5To decrease the color intensity of the picture, on the Picture toolbar, click the Color button, as indicated, and then click Washout.
6To reduce the brightness of the picture, on the Picture toolbar, click the Less Brightness button, as indicated, four times.
7To give the picture more contrast, on the Picture toolbar, click the More Contrast button, as indicated, four times.
8To remove the washed-out look from the picture but retain the brightness and contrast settings, on the Picture toolbar, click the Color button, and then click Automatic.
9To center the logo, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Center button.
10To start adding a clip art image to the announcement, click to the left of the word Employee in the title, and then click the Insert Clip Art button, as indicated, on the Drawing toolbar.
11To search for a particular image, in the Clip Art task pane, click the Search for box, and for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have a keyword typed for you.
12To search for images that match the keyword you specified, click Go.
13To select and insert a clip art image, in the Clip Art task pane, click below the scroll box in the image list's scroll bar, click the indicated drawing of two leaves, and then click the Close button on the title bar of the task pane.
14To shrink the size of the image, click to select it, and drag its upper-left handle down and to the right until the image is 1/2 inch square, as indicated.
15To start recoloring the background of the image, double-click it, and in the Format Picture dialog box, click the Color and Lines tab.
16To select a fill color, click the Color arrow, click the indicated box in the color palette, and then click OK.
17To duplicate the image and place a copy to the left of the title text, hold down the CTRL key, and drag a copy of the image to the left of the paragraph mark.
18To see the results of your work, click anywhere in the blank upper-right area of the document, and then on the Standard toolbar, click the Show/Hide ¶ button to hide non-printing characters.
19To add space between the images and the title text, click to the left of the word Employee, press SPACEBAR twice, and then click to the right of the word Month and press SPACEBAR twice.

Drawing and Modifying Shapes

1To move the insertion point to the end of the document, where you will draw your shapes, hold down CTRL and press the END key.
2To begin drawing a balloon shape, on the Drawing toolbar, click the Oval button.
3To draw a circle rather than an oval, hold down the SHIFT key, in the upper-left corner of the drawing canvas, drag about 1 1/2 inches diagonally from left to right, and then release the SHIFT key.
4To duplicate the circle, hold down the CTRL key, drag the circle to the upper-middle area of the drawing canvas, and then release the CTRL key.
5To create a third circle in the upper-right corner of the drawing canvas, on the Standard toolbar, click the Copy button, click the Paste button, and then drag the copy into place.
6To color the selected circle, on the Drawing toolbar, click the Fill Color arrow, and click the indicated box in the color palette.
7To fill the left circle with the same color, click the circle, click the Edit menu, and then click Repeat Fill Color.
8To fill the middle circle, click the circle, and on the Drawing toolbar, click the Fill Color arrow, and then click the indicated box in the color palette.
9To add strings to the balloons by using curved lines, on the Drawing toolbar, click AutoShapes, point to Lines, and then click the indicated Curve button.
10To draw the string, point to the bottom of the left balloon, drag down and left about an inch, release the mouse button, drag down and right about another inch, and then double-click to end the line.
11To duplicate the line as a string for the middle balloon, hold down the CTRL key, point to the line, drag it to the middle balloon, and then release the CTRL key.
12To copy the line as a string for the right balloon, on the Standard toolbar, click the Copy button, click the Paste button, and then drag the copy into place.
13To group the right balloon and its string, hold down the CTRL key, click the balloon, and release the CTRL key. Then, on the Drawing toolbar, click Draw, and then click Group.
14To flip the balloon and its string to its mirror image, on the Drawing toolbar, click Draw, point to Rotate or Flip, and then click Flip Horizontal.
15To push the right balloon downward slightly, press the DOWN ARROW key twice, and then click a blank area of the drawing canvas.
16To make the canvas smaller without distortion, on the Drawing Canvas toolbar, click the Scale Drawing button, and drag the lower-right handle up and left until the canvas is about 3 inches wide.
17To be able to move the canvas independently of the surrounding text, on the Drawing Canvas toolbar, click the Text Wrapping button, as indicated, and then click In Front of Text.
18To center the drawing canvas and the objects it contains on the page, point to its frame, and drag it to the center and about an inch below the document's last paragraph.
19To see the results of your work, click a blank area of the page outside the drawing canvas, and then on the Standard toolbar, click the Zoom arrow, and click Whole Page.

Inserting and Modifying Charts

1To insert a sample datasheet and chart at the insertion point, click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click Chart.
2To move the datasheet window so that you can see the sample chart, click and drag the title bar of the datasheet to the upper-right corner of the document window, as indicated.
3To work with a blank datasheet and chart, in the datasheet, click the Select All button, as indicated, and then press the DELETE key.
4To insert a row heading, click the cell to the right of the gray row 1 box in the first column, and, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the heading typed for you.
5To move to the next cell down in the same column and enter the remaining data, press ENTER, and then press SPACEBAR to have the data entered in the datasheet for you.
6To adjust the width of column B to the contents of its heading, point to the border between column headings B and C, and when the pointer shape changes to a double-headed arrow, double-click.
7To modify data in a chart, click the cell at the intersection of row 4 and column C to select it, press SPACEBAR to have a new value inserted for you, and then press ENTER.
8To hide the datasheet, on the Graph Standard toolbar, click the View Datasheet button, as indicated.
9To change the chart's data type to a line chart, on the Graph Standard toolbar, click the indicated Chart Type arrow, and then click the indicated Line Chart button.
10To size the chart, click the down scroll arrow four times, and then drag the chart's lower-right handle down and to the right until it is at the 5-inch mark on the horizontal ruler and at the 6 1/2-inch mark on the vertical ruler, as indicated.
11To change the color of the plot area, double-click where indicated in the gray area, and in the Format Plot Area dialog box, click the indicated color box, and then click OK.
12To start changing the markers used for a data series, on the Graph Standard toolbar, click the Chart Objects arrow, as indicated, and then click Series "Week 4" in the list.
13To access the data series formatting options, on the Standard toolbar, click the Format Data Series button, as indicated.
14To change the data series color, under Line, click the Color arrow, and then click the indicated color box.
15To change the weight of the data series line, click the Weight arrow, click the last weight in the list, and then click OK.
16To remove the horizontal gridlines from the chart, on the Graph Standard toolbar, click the Value Axis Gridlines button, as indicated.
17To start formatting other chart objects, click the Chart menu, and click Chart Options.
18To insert a title, in the Chart Options dialog box, click the Titles tab, click the Chart title box, and then press SPACEBAR to have the title typed for you.
19To format the legend, click the Legend tab, and under Placement, click the Bottom option, and then click OK.

Inserting and Modifying Diagrams

1To insert an organization chart, click the Insert menu, click Diagram, and in the Diagram Gallery dialog box, make sure that the Organization Chart icon is selected, and then click OK.
2To fill the organization chart's boxes with names, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have text inserted for you.
3To change the color of a box, click the Karen Berg box, and on the Drawing toolbar, click the Fill Color arrow, as indicated, and then click the indicated box in the color palette.
4To assign an assistant to the owner of the company, click the frame of the Karen Berg box, and on the Organization Chart toolbar, click the Insert Shape arrow, and then click Assistant.
5To include the name of Karen's assistant, click the new box, and then press SPACEBAR to have the name entered for you.
6To change the layout of the chart, click the Karen Berg box, and on the Organization Chart toolbar, click the Layout arrow, and then click Right Hanging.
7To select all the connecting lines, on the Organization Chart toolbar, click the Select arrow, and then click All Connecting Lines in the list.
8To change the color of the selected lines, click the Format menu, click AutoShape, and in the Format AutoShape dialog box, under Line on the Colors and Lines tab, click the Color arrow, and then click the indicated color box.
9To add arrows to the lines, under Arrows, click the Begin style arrow, click the lower-left arrowhead, and then click OK.
10To see the results of your work, click the blank area of the document to the right of the organization chart.
