Revising and Reorganizing Notes

Moving and Copying Text

1To select existing information that you want to move from one note to another, in the middle note, click after the period following 25, click the Edit menu, point to Select, and then click All.
2To move the selected paragraph, on the Standard toolbar, click the Cut button to move the paragraph to the Clipboard.
3To finish the move, click the second line of the bottom note, and on the Standard toolbar, click the Paste button.
4To select the text of the first note, point to the text, and when the paragraph handle appears on the left, click the handle to select the entire paragraph.
5To copy the selected text to the Clipboard, on the Standard toolbar, click the Copy button.
6To paste the text into a new note, click near the bottom of the page as indicated, to create a new note container, and then on the Standard toolbar, click the Paste button.
7To edit the new note, double-click the word vendor, and for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have a new word typed for you.
8To switch the lines of text in the second note, point to the second line, click the paragraph handle to select the line, and then drag the line upward until it becomes the first line in the note.
9To move a word from the second note to the third note, double-click the word equipment to select it.
10Drag the selected text down to the last note, releasing it when the insertion point sits to the left of the word demonstration.

Arranging and Aligning Notes

1To make the note containers more visible on the page, click the Tools menu, and then click Options.
2To set the shading options, on the Display page, click the Adjust the darkness of note container shading arrow, click Dark, and then click OK.
3To reduce the height of one of the note containers, click the second line of the Has thorough knowledge note, and then press the BACKSPACE key.
4To make the selected note container narrower, point to the sizing arrow at the upper-right end of the note container, and then drag to the left until the container is just wide enough to hold its note.
5To move the Not fussy about shifts note up the page, point to the top edge of the container, and when the pointer changes to a four-headed arrow, drag upward two notches on the invisible grid.
6To move a note without snapping it to the grid, point to the title bar of the Good cook note, hold down the ALT key, and drag the note immediately below the Not fussy about shifts note.
7To display rule lines on the page, click the View menu, point to Rule Lines, and then click Medium Grid.
8To align a note with the rule lines, point to the Can work Saturdays note, and drag it so that the word Can is aligned with the same vertical rule line as the word Not in the note below.

Moving and Grouping Pages

1To display the page you need to move, click the Ylang-Ylang page tab.
2To move the page, drag from left to right over the Ylang-Ylang page tab until the double-headed arrow appears, and then, drag upward until the black arrow to the right of the page tabs is above the Ravensara Leaf page.
3To select two pages for moving, hold down the CTRL key, click the Ravensara Leaf tab, click the Foraha Oil tab, and then release the CTRL key.
4To move the two pages, point to the Foraha Oil tab, hold down the SHIFT key, and drag the double-headed arrow downward until the black arrow to the right of the page tabs is below Ginger.
5To begin grouping a set of pages, you first need to create a new page to act as the parent page for the new group. To do this, click the New Page tab below the Foraha Oil tab.
6To name the new page, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the text typed for you.
7To make this page the first page in the group, drag from left to right over the Edible Plants page tab until the double-headed arrow appears, and then, drag upward until the black arrow is above the Vanilla page tab.
8To designate the pages that will be part of the group, hold down the CTRL key, click the Edible Plants, Vanilla, Sweet Basil, Cinnamon, and Ginger page tabs, and release the CTRL key.
9To create the group, click the Edit menu, and then click Group Pages.
10To see the other pages in the group, which are now subpages of Edible Plants and have taken on the name of the parent page, click each subpage tab in turn, moving from top to bottom.
11To select two subpages in the group so that you can move them, hold down the CTRL key, click the Cinnamon page tab, click the Ginger page tab, and then release the CTRL key.
12To move the selected subpages, point to the Cinnamon page tab, hold down the SHIFT key, and drag the double-headed arrow upward until the black arrow is above the Vanilla subpage tab.

Renaming, Moving, and Deleting Pages

1To rename the open page, drag from left to right across the To-Do Tasks title in the page header, and for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the name typed for you.
2To move the page to a different section, click the Edit menu, point to Move Page To, and then click Another Section.
3To designate the section to which you want to move the page, in the Move or Copy Pages dialog box, click the plus sign to the left of Info, click Keep Track, and then click Move.
4Notice that the Tasks section is now empty. To confirm that the page has moved to the Keep Track section, click the Keep Track section tab.
5To select an entire page, hold down the CTRL key, and click the To Do tab.
6To delete the selected page, on the Standard toolbar, click the Delete button, as indicated.
7To change the amount of time that pages are retained in the Deleted Pages folder, click the Tools menu, and click Options.
8To retain pages in the Deleted Items folder, in the Options dialog box, click the Editing category, and then click to clear the Empty Deleted Pages folder on OneNote exit check box.
9To have OneNote empty the Deleted Pages folder every 365 days, click to select the Permanently delete pages in the Deleted Pages folder after the following number of days check box, and then click OK.
10To view the page in the Deleted Pages folder, click Info folder, and then, at the bottom of the folder tree, click Deleted Pages.
11To restore the active page, click the Edit menu, and then click Undo Delete.

Renaming, Moving, and Deleting Sections and Folders

1To rename the open section, click the File menu, point to Current Section, and then click Rename.
2To enter the new name, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the name typed for you.
3To complete the name change, press ENTER.
4To move the open section to a different folder, click the File menu, point to Current Section, and then click Move.
5To designate the destination folder, in the Move Section To dialog box, click Info, and then click Move.
6To delete the open section entirely, click the File menu, point to Current Section, and then click Delete.
7To confirm the deletion, in the message box, click Yes.
8To display a different folder, click Info folder, and in the folder tree, click Garden Expo Notes.
9To rename the open folder, which is empty, click the File menu, point to Current Folder, and then click Rename.
10To enter the new name, press SPACEBAR to have the name typed for you.
11To complete the name change, click OK.
12To move the open folder, click the File menu, point to Current Folder, and then click Move.
13To designate the destination folder, in the Move Folder To dialog box, click Info, and then click Move.
14To confirm that the folder has moved, click the Navigate to parent folder button.
15To delete the folder entirely, click the Annual Exhibition folder tab to open the folder, click the File menu, point to Current Folder, and then click Delete.
16To confirm the deletion, in the message box, click Yes.
