Creating Pages with Stationery

1To start applying stationery to the current page, click the Format menu, and then click Stationery.
2To view the stationery available in a category, in the Add a page area of the Stationery task pane, click the plus sign (+) next to the Decorative category.
3To add a new page to the current section with stationery applied to it, in the Stationery task pane, click below the scroll box in the scroll bar three times, and then click Ivy.
4To name the new page, in the page header, click in the Title area, and then for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the name typed for you.
5To set the default stationery for new pages in the current section, in the Choose default stationery area of the Stationery task pane, click the No Default Stationery arrow.
6To set Ivy stationery as the default, click twice below the scroll box in the scroll bar, and then click Ivy - Decorative.
7To create a new page with the default stationery applied, click the New Page page tab.
8To name the new page, confirm that the insertion point is active in the title area of the page header, and press SPACEBAR to have the text typed for you.
9To create a subpage with the default stationery applied, click the New Subpage page tab.
10To delete the only page in this section that does not use the default stationery, double-click the Untitled page tab, and then on the Standard toolbar, click the Delete button.

Inserting Pictures into Notes

1To indicate where the picture should be placed, click the upper-left corner of the page, as indicated.
2To find the picture you want to use, click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File.
3To select and insert the picture, in the Insert Picture dialog box, click the Comfrey picture, and then click Insert.
4To change the size of the image, click the Comfrey image, and then drag the lower-right sizing handle up and to the left until the picture is the indicated size.
5To move the picture, drag it to the upper-right corner of the page.
6To make the page header large enough to hold the picture, point to the bottom border of the page header, and when it changes color, click it.
7To move the selected picture to the page header, on the Standard toolbar, click the Cut button.
8To paste the picture in the header, click in the header between the Title area and the date, and then, on the Standard toolbar, click the Paste button.
9To adjust the position of the picture, drag it slightly to the left.
10To cancel the selection so that you can see the effect of the inserted picture, press the ESC key.
11To size the page header to fit its contents, drag its bottom edge upward until it aligns with the middle of the Cinnamon page tab.

Creating Outlines in Notes

1To display the Outlining toolbar so that the tools you need to create an outline are close at hand, click the View menu, point to Toolbars, and then click Outlining.
2To select the lines that you want to move to a lower hierarchical level, in the left note, click to the left of the F in Furniture, hold down the SHIFT key, and click just to the right of the final e in Electrical tape.
3To increase the indent level of the selected lines, on the Outlining toolbar, click the Increase Indent button, as indicated.
4To select the lines that you want to move to the next lower level, click to the left of the C in Chairs, hold down the SHIFT key, and click just to the right of the final e in Electrical tape.
5To increase the indent level of the selected lines, on the Outlining toolbar, click the Increase Indent button.
6To decrease the indent level of an item, double-click the word Power, and then, on the Outlining toolbar, click the Decrease Indent button, as indicated.
7To add a new item to the outline, click to the right of the s in Podiums, press the ENTER key, and then for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have a new third-level item typed for you.
8To convert the new item into body text that is indented from the item above it, on the Outlining toolbar, click the Make Body Text button.

Creating Bulleted and Numbered Lists

1To select the text that you want to convert to a bulleted list, in the middle note, click to the left of the C in Cleaning supplies, hold down the SHIFT key, and then click just to the right of the s in Garbage bags.
2To convert the selection into a bulleted list, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Bullets button, as indicated.
3To change the bullet character used for the selected list, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Bullets arrow, and then click the hollow round bullet.
4To create a bulleted list as you type, in the right note, click just to the right of the s in Emergencies, press ENTER, and then on the Formatting toolbar, click the Bullets button.
5To enter the bulleted items, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the items typed for you.
6To apply bullets to nested items, click the top edge of the left note container, and then, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Bullets button.
7To display another page where you have notes containing lists, click the Registration page tab.
8To select existing items that you want to convert to a numbered list, in the left note, drag from the beginning of the words Before 9:00 AM to the end of the word chairs.
9To convert the selected items to a numbered list, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Numbering button, as indicated.
10To remove the numbering from an item, in the selected text, point to line number 1, click the paragraph selection button, and then on the Formatting toolbar, click the Numbering button.
11To number nested items, click the top edge of the right note, and on the Formatting toolbar, click the Numbering button.
