Formatting Diagrams
Formatting Shapes
| 1 | To select a shape that has a fill color you need to change, click the Marketplace shape. |
| 2 | To change the fill color, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Fill Color arrow, as indicated, and then in the color palette, click the sixth color box in the bottom row (Pale Blue). |
| 3 | To apply the same fill color to a different shape, click the Landscape Competition shape, and on the Formatting toolbar, click the Fill Color button, which indicates that the active fill color is Pale Blue. |
| 4 | To apply a fill pattern to the selected shape, click the Format menu, and then click Fill. |
| 5 | To change the fill pattern, in the Fill dialog box, click the Pattern arrow, and in the list, click the 02 pattern (diagonal lines). |
| 6 | To change the color of the pattern, in the Fill dialog box, click the Pattern color arrow, and in the list, click the 07 color, and then click OK. |
| 7 | To change the weight of the border of the selected shape, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Line Weight arrow, as indicated, and in the list, click the fifth line from the top. |
| 8 | To make the text in the selected shape bold, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Bold button. |
| 9 | To make the text in the selected shape larger, on the Formatting toolbar, click the Font Size arrow, and in the list, click 14 pt. |

Adding Decorative Elements and Color Schemes to Diagrams
| 1 | To view the border shapes that you can add to a diagram, in the Shapes window, click the Borders and Titles stencil. |
| 2 | To add a border shape to the diagram, from the Borders and Titles stencil, drag the Border classic shape onto the drawing page. |
| 3 | To zoom in on the title, on the Standard toolbar, click the Zoom arrow, click 100%, and then click above the scroll box on the scroll bar. |
| 4 | To select the placeholder text of the title, click the word Title to select its shape, press the F2 key to select all the text for editing, and then double-click the word Title to select just that word. |
| 5 | To replace the placeholder text, for the purposes of this exercise, press SPACEBAR to have the new text typed for you. |
| 6 | To display the background shapes that you can add to a diagram, in the Shapes window, click the Backgrounds stencil. |
| 7 | To add a background shape to the diagram, from the Backgrounds stencil, drag the Background leaf shape onto the drawing page. |
| 8 | To zoom out so that you can see the effect of the background, on the Standard toolbar, click the Zoom arrow, and click Page. |
| 9 | To change the color scheme of the diagram, click the Shape menu, point to Actions, and then click Color Schemes. |
| 10 | To choose a scheme, in the Color Schemes dialog box, in the Choose a color scheme list, click Pastel, and then click OK. |
Inserting Pictures into Diagrams
| 1 | To select the current title of the diagram, click Garden Expo, and then on the Standard toolbar, click the Text Tool button (containing the letter A icon). |
| 2 | To delete the selected title and date, press the DELETE key, and then on the Standard toolbar, click the Pointer Tool button (containing the pointer icon). |
| 3 | To insert a picture from a file, click the Insert menu, point to Picture, and then click From File. |
| 4 | To insert a picture, in the Insert Picture dialog box, in the Garden Show folder, double-click the Logo file. |
| 5 | To move the logo into place, click the Up scroll arrow once, and then drag the picture to the indicated area of the drawing page. |
| 6 | To resize the picture, drag the left-middle selection handle of the logo to the left until the logo is about 3 inches wide. |
| 7 | To make the logo lighter so that it appears to recede, at the right end of the Picture toolbar, click the Transparency arrow, and then click 60%. |
