Hosting a Web Site
Configuring and Testing IIS on Your System
| 1 | To begin configuring your computer to host a Web site, on the Windows taskbar, click Start, and click Control Panel. |
| 2 | To begin modifying programs that are installed on the computer, in the Control Panel window, click Add and Remove Programs. |
| 3 | To change the installed Windows components, in the left pane of the Add and Remove Programs window, click Add/Remove Windows Components. |

Publishing to a Local Folder
| 1 | To begin publishing a Web site to a local folder, click the File menu, and click Publish Web. |
| 2 | To begin specifying the location of a local folder, in the Publish Destination dialog box, click Browse. |
| 3 | To create a new folder, in the New Publish Location dialog box, to the right of the Look in box, click the Create New Folder button (fifth button from the Look in box). |
| 4 | To assign a name to the new folder, in the New Folder dialog box, in the Name box, type PublishLocal, and click OK. |
| 5 | To specify the PublishLocal folder as the publish destination, in the New Publish Location dialog box, click Open, and then, in the Publish Destination dialog box, click OK. |
| 6 | To publish the Web at the specified location, in the alert box that appears, click OK. |
| 7 | To publish the listed files that build the Web site to the local drive, in the Publish Web dialog box, click Publish, and then, in the Publishing FrontPage Components dialog box, click Continue. |
| 8 | To review the publishing process, in the message box, click the link Click here to view your publish log file. |
| 9 | To view the publish log file and the transactions involved in the publishing process, in the browser window, point to the scroll box on the scroll bar, press and hold down the mouse button, drag the pointer down until it reaches the bottom of the scroll bar, and then release the mouse button. |

Publishing to a Web Server
| 1 | To begin publishing the Web site to a Web server, click the File menu, and click Publish Web. |
| 2 | To assign a name to the Web server, in the Publish Destination dialog box, in the Enter publish destination text box, type http://localhost, and click OK. |
| 3 | To publish the Web site to the Web server, in the Publish Web dialog box, click Publish. |
| 4 | To open the Web site in a browser window, in the message box, click the Click here to view your published web site link. |
| 5 | To view the publish log file, in the upper-right corner of the browser window, click the Close button, and then, in the message box, click the Click here to view your publish log file link. |
